Sorry about my long absence, but, to be honest, you didn’t really miss much news. I just wanted to update you on two interesting World Adventures reviews for the iPhone Application in which they share quite a few screens. Check them out:

The biggest difference in World Adventures is the scope of the game with added locations that you can travel to. If you loved the gameplay of the original but felt the original Sims 3’s world was a bit small, this version is for you. Beyond your own town, there are 3 additional locations including Egypt, France and China. Each location has its own buildings, inhabitants, goals and tourist attractions. Also included are 52 new goals and 4 new mini-games. The mini games include ruin exploration, air flight, bartering and language games. Succeeding in these mini-games help you along the way. For example, the in flight mini game prevents you from getting air sick which will suck up valuable time at your destination while you recoup. Meanwhile better language skills add to your charm, improving your interaction with others.

Far too much of your time is spent on domestic activities rather than exploring the new locations and accompanying goals. In other words, it carries too much of the baggage from the original game.
When you do arrive at one the game’s much-hyped destinations, there are sights to see and locals to chat up. Each decently sized location has its own unique activities like visiting the Sphinx, socialising with Chinese natives, or learning French cuisine. Touring the Arc de Triomphe, for instance, involves watching a scripted slide show with superimposed images of your sim in weird poses accompanied by historical facts.
It’s an opportunity lost – why not allow sightseeing in which your sim can take photos that are saved to your device’s camera roll, which can then be shared with friends?

The Sims 3 World Adventures Indepth – Part One

Just found out, thanks to SimPrograms, that recently, Andy from The Sims Zone recently published part one of his indepth World Adventures Guide/Review. Part 1 explains the mechanics behind traveling and all about visas.

Once a sim starts to go on a world adventure, they begin with a Level 0 visa in each of the three countries. Without any other extensions, it means that the default length of time that they can stay is 3 days.
From experience, I have found that three days is not enough in most cases. Three days is NOT enough in most cases. To be in sight of the relic you have been searching for, only to find you are on the way back home is incredibly irritating.
In order to improve the level of visa and the length of their stay, they have to accumulate enough visa points. Visa points are gained from completing many of the adventuring opportunities that come their way while they are abroad.

The Sims 3 World Adventures Music Video

To be honest, I think this is another quite successful work by EA, the effects used in the video are quite amazing and must have taken zonks to put together and make. I guess all I can say is well done EA Germany and thanks for the production. Here’s the music video guys:

Two new World Adventures reviews – I had to share them with you!

The Sims 3: World Adventures further explores the series’ continued focus on performing specific tasks for specific rewards, yet offers enough new tools, items, and social interactions to please those who prefer the free-form play for which The Sims is known. From martial arts and nectar (that is, wine) making, to firetraps and puzzle solving, there’s a lot to do and a lot of playthings to muck about with. This expansion may not fix the few technical troubles that still ail The Sims 3, but it adds enough to keep your mind off the drawbacks and centered directly on the fresh and wonderful new content. In other words, Sims fans should expect plenty more sleepless nights ahead.

One of the greatest departures for the series comes in the form of the tomb exploration found in each town, turning any fledgling Sim into a veritable Indiana Jones. Inside the tombs you take direct control over your Sim to solve simple block pushing puzzles, bypass traps and discover hidden doorways. Further pushing the RPG elements, certain skill levels are needed to negotiate different hazards. Whilst not in keeping with the usual style of play found in the Sims series, the exploration and tomb raiding do offer a good change of pace and will keep you searching every nook and cranny until you discover the long lost treasures of Al Simhara.

EuroGamer’s World Adventures Review

Just thought I’d share with you the review from EuroGamer, nice and humorous like usual :D

It’s worth it for the tents alone. My little one-man pyramid of canvas was bought so as not to waste precious hours returning to the hotel whilst out on a long expedition, but it was upon realising it was in my Sim’s inventory on my return to homely Riverview that I realised its true worth.
Why, I can sleep anywhere! Outside the bookshop! In the park! In my ex-girlfriend’s garden! In the graveyard. Pfft. I don’t need a house now I’ve got a tent. There are toilets at work, computers in the library, and I can always pull off a guerrilla shower whilst visiting a mate’s house. Truly, this is the life.

The Sims 3 World Adventures Reviews Update!

Wow, over the last two days there have been a huge amount of new Sims 3 World Adventures Reviews! It’s shocking how many there are! So I though that instead of posting each individual one and causing you (and me) a lot of hassle, I’ve got all the updates here. Remember, there will probably be quite a few more to come so keep checking back if you want more info on The Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack! Here they are:

Based on just how well all the content is implemented in World Adventures, it’s clear that the Sims team have become experts at this. The price might prompt some justifiable hesitation, but the adventures and the rest of the new content make for an excellent refresh of the five-month-old Sims 3, and will leave little in the way of buyer’s remorse. A worthy beginning for what will surely be a long line of expansion packs.

But it’s not just the extraction of wealth that counts in life and Destination Adventure offers different perks. The view “map” can admire the vast size of each new area and its many picturesque places to visit. Place of typical French village, souk Egyptian perfume of spice, Zen Garden Asian sounding … The scenery is real and really raise the value of a tired gameplay that often profane. Many skills are also their unusual appearances, as charming snake wine making or practice martial arts.

In general, our travel adventures are not only the beautifully designed holiday destinations and Crypt-added expeditions, but a considerable momentum of additional game content, new recipes, or plant seeds on clothing, furniture, components for houses to personality traits. Even the normal The Sims 3 on to win this diversity. As a nice motivation to turn out new collections, for the many artifacts in the game are grouped together. The spurs on to track down about every antique vases. Photography also brings many lists with predefined motifs. The scan found all alone and busy for hours.

Well! What a major difference when you experience a pleasant game play! This review will be based off WA that is installed on my laptop due to previously explained issues with my desktop. My game is also patched/up-to-date because I decided to just go ahead and try the patches since there was another one afterward. I had no CC when I first began and then later I added only Store CC because of the latest .package issues.

All in all The Sims World Adventure is a very worthy addition to any Sims fan’s collection. But then if you are an avid Sims fan you would have bought this already. The variety of gameplay elements, especially the new goal driven adventures, makes for a compelling visit to far off places. It also adds a bit of credibility for those manly men who have been looking for the right time to admit that they do play the odd game of The Sims. It is the best The Sims has had to offer so far. Until the inevitable second expansion, that is.

There are three pyramids in Egypt, Pyramid of the Burning Sands, The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of the Wind. I wanted to send my Sim to explore the Great Pyramid, but I quickly finished the exploration … I didn’t have the right keystone to continue. And before writing something, I’ll need to tell you something else. When completing the adventures (or opportunities, whatever you prefer) you’ll get Ancient Coins, that can be used for buying special items, like food that will also re-generate some energy or escape dust. To buy those things, you’ll need at least visa level 1, besides the coins to pay for the stuff! Ok, now to write what I wanted, amongst these special items, there’s a skeleton key, that should work as a master key that would unlock all locks you don’t have any keys for. But as of now, those keystones don’t work at all … oh well, I hope EA releases new patch soon.

Sorry about not posting these before, but as you know there was a huge site downtime and I just forgot to post them as soon as I got it all back up and running. With an immense following and many years of success, The Sims has considerable renown in the genre of social simulation. Much of its popularity is owed to an excellent design, which is not only crafted with outstanding attention to detail, but also goes the extra mile to maintain a genuinely fun atmosphere. The ignorant bystander might find your average play session quite befuddling, and wonder about the strange language the characters seem to be babbling in. Yet as any Sims fan will attest, The Sims is a game that must be played in order to be appreciated.
