New Stickers, Badges and More on Your TheSims3.com Profile!

27 Feb

Recently, TheSims3.com added a new system that allows you to add stickers, avatar backgrounds, and badges on you TheSims3.com profile. It’s quite fun but pretty useless and I just see it as another way to nick some SimPoints off us. Yes, that’s right, they cost. There are a few simple free ones so you can try them out but apart from that, they cost a few SimPoints. Check out the new Goodies Page and see if you like any, here’s some more information on them:

Personalize your My Page with Goodies and show off your creativity and community spirit. Dress up your page by adding stickers, a background to your avatar, and collecting unique badges. Purchasing or gifting Goodies is easy – just visit The Sims3 Store and click on the My Goodies button to begin shopping with your SimPoints!

Stickers
Adding stickers to your My Page is a great way to show off your interests. Place them anywhere on your My Page and easily swap them out with new stickers.

Backgrounds for your Avatar
Get a background for your avatar! With so many to choose from, you’ll want to change your avatar for every new mood you are in!

Badges
Collect badges and show them off on your My Page. Badges are the perfect way to express your passion for The Sims 3. If a love for Freezer Bunny is your virtue, or craving grilled cheese is your vice, there is a badge for you. Gift a badge to your community friends to say Happy Birthday, Get Well, or Congratulations!

The Sims Team Looking For Default Avatars

24 Feb

After recently letting us know that if our creations aren’t good enough for them, the Sims Team now want us to share with them some of our creations so that they can snatch them and use them for their default forum avatars. A bit rude, but here’s what SimGuruHydra said:

The time has come for us to jazz up those default avatar Sims. This is where you come in – would you like your Sim to be immortalized in the default avatar selection?

Post a link to your Sims in this thread! The more unique, the better. Remember, your Sims must follow the Exchange rules. If you’re going to use Custom Content, please use CC that is your own.

If your Sim gets picked to be an avatar, we’ll feature it! Have fun and we look forward to seeing the Sims you will share with us! Good luck.

EDIT: Forgot to mention – you have until March 31 11:59pm PST.

The Sims 3 Create-A-Sim Standalone Icon Disgrace

24 Feb

Ok, this is just awful. I can’t even believe I’m reporting this, it’s just simply pathetic. TheSimsSlovenija recently reported on finding the icon for the stand-alone version of the Create-A-Sim from the original Sims 3 Game. I thought it was joke when I saw it, but look at it here, on the Sims 3 website! I hope it gets changed, but if not, we will soon start seeing it on peoples profiles. It’s a disgrace.

MySims Camera DSiWare Review – WiiNintendo

24 Feb

Haven’t reported much on the MySims series, but recently a review for the MySims Camera DSiWare has been released by WiiNintendo and I thought I should share it with you. Enjoy!

Have you ever gotten bored with your DSi cameras?  Well, if you are a MySims fan, EA has the product for you.  MySims Camera is essentially a camera “add-on” for your DSi.  You can either take photos from within the application or use photos already saved on your DSi system memory.  What do you do with these photos?  Add in MySims characters (8 available at the start) and draw on them.

The control is done entirely via the DSi touch screen (except for the ability to also take photos with the L or R buttons if you choose to do so).  The app starts with the menu screen that looks similar to the DSi Camera.  You get options to exit, get help, access your photo album, create or use a photo frame, take a photo, and edit a photo.  In the center, you can cycle through all the photos on your DSi system memory.  While inside the editing room, you get a menu bar across the top and left side of the touch screen.  Basically, you will choose a MySims character, change their size/angle/placement, cycle through to get a desired pose and expression, and that is it.  You can place up to 3 MySims in your photo.  You also have the option, as stated earlier, to doodle on your photo using pens of various sizes and colors. You can also use the eyedropper to use doodling colors that aren’t available by selection (red, yellow, blue, black, white, and rainbow). I honestly have no problem with the touch screen controls. It only seems logical for a camera application.

The Sims 3: Ambitions is the New Hobbies and Professions?

22 Feb

S3N recently reported on some more news regarding the next Sims 3 Expansion Pack. At first, we heard some rumours of The Sims 3 Hobbies & Professions however, recently the name has changed to The Sims 3: Ambitions, I don’t know which sounds better, I don’t know if it really matters, but as S3N is a Dutch site, it could just be a different translation. Sims 3 expansion pack names are often changed from country to country in order to make sense but when translated all to one language, they’re different. So I’ll keep you updated but The Sims 3 Hobbies & Professions sounds more like EA than The Sims 3: Ambitions in my opinion.

Official Exchange Hits Creators Hard

22 Feb

Ok, this is just a bit harsh now. SimGuruPopTart recently released a statement about the new Exchange Policy that EA have decided to put forth. I think it’s a reasonable idea but the way it’s being handled and taken out seems a bit harsh. The message I got from the statement is that they don’t really care how much time and effort we’ve put into our creations, if nobody else notices them, they will simply be removed. If your creations don’t have enough download or recommendations, it will be deleted. Here’s what SimGuruPopTart said:

We’ve been receiving a lot of great content uploaded to our Exchange and Movies & More. To make sure the items stay fresh we’ve implemented a culling script that will remove older items. For those of you who are not familiar with culling – it is when uploads, Stories and Movies are automatically removed from the Exchange and Movies & More when they do not do well (not getting enough downloads and recommendations). The more Recommends and Downloads you have, the better. Exchange uploads, Stories, and Movies will be subject to culling after 2 weeks if it does not do well. Searching for content will be easier with culling turned on and awesome uploads will have even more of a chance to shine.

If an Exchange item, Story, or Movie is Featured, it will never be culled.

Thanks again for sharing your creativity with the rest of the community, and Keep creating fabulous content to get those downloads, views and recommendations in!

Custom Content Mania: The Modern Day Sim

20 Feb

Welcome to another Custom Content Mania post, I hope to keep this up and post frequent updates, it’s actually quite fun to do it. Today I am going to share with you a bunch of modern custom content items I have found recently, especially for the High End Loft Stuff lovers.

First, let’s start off with the living room, a perfect place where all our Sims gather, it’s got to look nice. I have found three modern living room sets so you can choose the one you like the most or simply download them all and decide amongst them in the game.

The first one is available to download at Sims3D, simply scroll down and find the set named ‘Joana’. There is a preview of the set on the right, there are also other items there that you may prefer, but this is the most modern and my favourite there. This set has many items and it definitely great for making a full, simple and modern living room with functionality. Click the image to be directed to the download page.

The second set is available to download at SimcredibleDesigns.com, again, scroll down to find the set named ‘Fallen Moon’ and download it. The only difference is that this site requires you to download each object individually. The image below shows what is included in the set.

Finally, set number three on the list is brought to you by Desdren, a talented Sims 3 Custom Content designer. This set comes with multiple sofas which can be arranged in multiple way in order to fit in your sims house perfectly. Download the whole set here.

For your modern living room to fit in with your Sims’ house, you will definitely need a modern bedroom. I found this awesome set all available in a Sims3Pack which is much easier to download and install with some fancy objects. As you can see on the right, there are a few random clutter objects and a one simple bed. Enjoy and download this set here.

Finally, you will definitely be needing a modern outdoor look and SimPossible has made just this. View the ‘Sunny Outdoor Set’ below and download it here.

So that’s it for today! I hope you enjoy your new modern look if you decide to download any of these and you old Sims become new modern day Sims! Enjoy!
